The Misanthrope, I completly disagree with you, and agree with you. Leo was fantastic, and has Always been a fantastic actor. For major roles i thought he was hands down the best.

Alec Baldwin was my favorite in the whole movie though. The interaction with him and Marky Mark was fantastic. What a great friggin movie!

I think I'd say DiCaprio - he has such amazing reaction shots, and really pulls out moments of great feeling and sensitivity in a man who's trying to squash such sentiments...

But I thought Damon also did an excellent job - it was gutsy to take the role of a sneaky little weasel character who might be impotent.

And as always, Alec Baldwin - what an amazing character actor he is. (I guess we've known that since Glengarry Glen Ross, but somehow it always seems like a new revelation.) He was spectacular in "The Aviator" too - perhaps the best delivered utterance of the F word ever on film. And here, he really just energized the movie every time he was on screen.

Leonardo DeCaprio hands down - i'm not a Leo fan but I've got to give credit where it's due.

Jack did and awesome job as well.

Worst role in the movie - Alec Baldwin and i'm an alec fan but they could have eliminated him and his role from the movie altogher. It was like the casting crew/producer/director owed him a favor or something and just stuck him in there.

Well I think the person who said Leo was in a small minority. I won't say he was awful but he was far from the best actor in the film.

My vote goes for Mark Walberg as well. Just an overall solid performance as Dignam.

The darkhorse in this movie, which is also for a lack of screen time, is Alec Baldwin. As an actor he has very comfortably settled into what his strong points are. I believe his time on 30 Rock has helped him immensely. Whenever he is on the screen in the Departed you immediately become fixated on his character. "Patriot Act, Patriot Act!"

I was way too bored with this movie to really notice anyone's acting ability. I also got tired of watching leonardo scowl at everyone and in every scene for two and a half hours. This movie should not be compared to Goodfella's as its just not that good.

I'd have to say Jack Nicholson, of course he doesn't know how to give a bad performance. Runner up would have to be Mark Wahlberg, who was just great

I agree with Celeste. Mark Wahlberg.
