can i back up my question? why don't you do a survey of how many of your friends ACTUALLY collect porn mags? just open your eyes, look around you then maybe you might eventually admit that sex is highly advertized..that's if & only if you're actually honest.. lol

When my family first moved to the UK in the early '80s Britain was a conservative country. Old fashioned values were still in evidence such as hard work, saving for what you wanted, deference to peers and those in positions of authority etc, etc. However, I think things have changed dramatically since then. Some would argue that it began in the '80s with stock market greed others, like myself, would say it began when the Labour government turned Britain into a nanny state and stopped holding people accountable for their own actions. When I left the UK for good last year I feel that I left a country with a "me first" attitude. People will now do whatever and to whom ever they have to in order to get exactely what they want and they will claim that it is their Civil Right to be able to do so. And yes, I agree, sex is everywhere in the UK. It may not be dressed up as porn because it permeates through society in so many subtle ways but it is just below the surface from advertising billboards, to smutty stories drug up by the newspapers to the high number of teenage pregnancies and levels of STDs among the populace. I feel sorry for people of the Queen's age who have seen Britain slowly sink into the mire since they were born.

It is conservative only in this it has Lords, a monarchy, lots of relics & old palaces, and because it has all the symptoms of having been a low-government laisser-faire society that fell behind the rest of Europe in many ways & has a large inequality and teen pregnancy rate in comparison.
But you make a good point - take the socalled Daily Sport (& the Sun & Star too) for example.

Porn is a useful tool to keep the population from thinking about anything which really matters.

I have never heard anyone in England claiming that this is a conservative country, and it isn't, and I disagree that porn is everywhere. Can you back up your statement? I think not.
