It's because they have nothing to say in return to argue their own points. For the most part (and this isn't for everyone) Republicans don't really know why they are Republican they just are because their parents were and because they are religious. So when it comes to Republican policy they assume the Republicans got everything right and will defend it but have no actual facts to support it because they don't really know. It's the same with religion, people just blindly believe in it because their parents did and that's how they were brought up. Once again none of these statements applies to everyone, this is in general the truth of matters.

No one can force you to agree with them in America, at least not yet. The people who resort to insults and name calling are not true representatives of anyone but themselves. I understand what you are going through, but there are just as many liberals and conservatives who resort to the same tactics. The best way I have found to deal with this is to give intelligent, well thought out answers, and don't even bother to answer the questions asked by the ignorant on both sides.

That's the beauty of the country. You are free to believe as you wish. There are pros and cons to being both a Republican and a Democrat. No side is without flaw. It is up to the person to decide which of these they most agree with. I think it is a beautiful thing when people can look at a view which opposes their own. However, this is not usually the case. That is why I refrain from political discussions with people most of the time.

If you live in a "Republic" country, you MUST agree with how the leaders Govern. If you live in a "Democratic" country the leaders must agree with the people.
In Republic Government, officials are elected by the people and the government has supreme powers to govern.
In Democratic Government, officials are elected by the people and the people have the supreme power and rights to govern the government.
Democracy is all about the people, Republic is all about Big Government.
Research the two words and you might start to get an understanding of what is REALLY going on. Also look back and find the ( full ) names of some countries you used to see on the map. You may find the word "republic" within the name of some earlier countries. This word is a description of what form of rule those countries operate or operated under.
Just something to chew on....I pledge allegiance to the flag, of the united states of America, and to the "Republic" for which it stands????????? What happened to "Democracy"?

I'm sure that they would feel that is right. And to be fair, let's not lump all republicans together.
As for resorting to insults, in logical debate, if you got no game, insults are all you've got.
Germany's propaganda minister said that one effective way of getting the people to agree with you was to call those that don't unpatriotic. Worked then, works now
No, the people that do this will never change.

Having pride for ones country does not mean that you have to agree with Rebuplicans. It's like how a mother can love her child but she doesn't have to agree with the bad choices said child is making.
Unfortunately, a lot of people are stuck to what they believe and are a tad bit narrow-minded. Don't mind them when they call you a traitor, because there are plenty of Republicans out there who would think just the opposite.

Republicans can ask similar type questions of Democrats. To understand why Republicans would think of Democrats as traitors, you must look at what the two sides disagree on. The most prevalent being the war in Iraq. In general, the Democratic side of the debate is to get out fast and get out now. Not much of a plan has been proposed as to how the consequences of those action would be dealt with. Republicans, in general, want to stay and finish what we started. For Republicans, the idea of not staying to finish and prevent terrorism from taking hold again in that country is traitorous. Being a Republican, I can agree with it at times. Especially when watching the news and seeing some Democrats talk about various problems. I seldom get the impression that certain people want to fix the problem; they seem to want to kick out the people they don't like rather than work to resolve any problems. Hate gets meted out quickly. Admittedly, both Republicans and Democrats do dish out the hatred and disgust every year. It's nothing new. The real traitors are people that say they hate this country, but don't want to move out because of all the benefits from our system of government and constitution.

Not really. You living in a free western Democratic Republic, you can disagree on anything you wish, even if it is foolish or harmful to the country you say you have pride for.
The problem is that with your citizenship to the United States of America, you also have a great responsibility to be a well informed citizen and voter.
If you support the defeat of the US in it's war in Iraq, then you are supporting Islamofascism sweeping over the Middle east, with the end goal of fostering an even greater conflict which could very well lead to WW3. We must all understand the implications of this. I can understand that perhaps you disagreed with going into Iraq in the first place, although it did unseat one of the world's worst dictators, one who systematically tortured and genocidally purged his own country regularly. Liberals should support this goal, but seem to say they hated Saddam Hussein, but not enough to get rid of him.
The anti-war movement has up to this point actually been an anti-Bush movement. The problem is that it exposes blatent hypocracy since none of these people had a problem bombing Bosnia under President Bill Clinton. If your views were true, you would have spoken out then--where were you?
Defeating the USA is not a benefit for any citizen of the USA. It signals weakness in the heart of the world's greatest Democracy.
It will embolden the Dictators of the world, just look at Hugo Chavez and Mahmoud Ahmadinajad. Ahmadinijad openly claims he WILL destroy Israel should he obtain a nuclear weapon. He says that America will end in flames. Are these things you would allow for being able to harm America via your beliefs? Would you allow the expansion of governments that would further enslave their own people and enslave other nations?
Both Iran and Syria are currently sending in troops and weapons by which they hope to force the US to leave Iraq. They kill our troops at a more frequent pace via the hope that people in this country will be weak enough to make us exit ala a Vietnam scenario. Would you be willing to live with that fact?
With great power comes great responsibility. And when the American people abdicate their responsibility in Iraq, they get soldiers and Iraqi civilians killed. You have a great responsibility in this, my friend.

About the same time Democrats quit the same game.
Nobody can agree to disagree anymore. Democrats are misguided idiots at best, traitors at worst. Republicans are a bunch of stupid, homophobic, bigots.
Its no wonder our government is dysfunctional. Labeling is a whole lot easier than actually debating and thinking. Add emotion to the mix and it will be a miracle if we ever get anything accomplished.
