No, a crab is a Pan-crustacean, decapod Malacostracean. It scuttles on 8 legs alright, but did you notice the pair of pincers? That makes 10 "legs".

The common crab is NOT an arachnid, but a crustacean. In fact, they have 10 legs, not 8, only two of them are modified to form claws.
However, there is a species of crabs (Horseshoe crabs) that belongs to the group of arachnids - it was once considered a crustacean but, as science evolved, they found out it was more closely related to spiders.

A crab is a crustacean. Crabs have actually 5 "legs", if you could the ones with the claws. Crustaceans (i.e. shrimps, lobsters, CRABS...), Arachnids (i.e. spiders, scorpions, mites, ticks...), and Insects (bees, ants, wasps, beetles, etc...), among others, belong to the Phylum Arthropoda, or the Arthropods, which literally means something like "leg-jointed".

a crab is not an arachnid, its a crustacean..most arachnids are terrestrial..such as scorpion and spider..arachnid is different from the crustacean because its head and thorax combines to form chepalothorax, meaning it has no abdomen n 4 pairs of legs attached to it...while crustacean usually marine-type,has appendage and a pair of antenna-type of compound eye...

Crabs are Crustaceans and they are distantly related to Arachnids.
Arachnids and Crustaceans are different types of Arthropods (invertebrates with segmented legs), as are Insects.
Crustaceans are known for branched appendages (think of a lobster claw).
Arachnids are known for chelicerae mouthparts (think of spider fangs).
You won't find any spiders with pincers or crabs with piercing fangs.
