Because you have to put her off to sleep again. She has not learnt to do this herself. Small children have a sleep cycle of 60 - 90 minutes and wake up briefly at the end of each cycle.
If she does not know how to put herself to sleep again then she will call for you to come help.
You have to teach her to put herself to sleep. Be firm when she wakes, go in and say it's time to sleep, leave and perpare for screaming.
Go back in every 10 minutes and simply say in a sfot voice 'its time for sleep' and leave again.
Do this everytime she wakes and gradually over a wek she should cry less and less until she sleeps all night and does not cry for you.

I have a 5 month old daughter that would do that b/c she was laying on her tummy or she dropped her pacifier so every hour my husband or I would go in her room talk to her for a minute fix the problem and go back to sleep only to have it happen again within the next 2 hours. What worked for us is not going in immediately after she starts crying. If you know that nothing is wrong with her she knows that crying will get mommy and daddy to come in her room and give her attention. I know it sounds like a hard thing to do. I was pulling my hair out b/c I can't stand to hear my daughter cry. But after 2-4 nights of letting her cry it out for 15 minutes before going in her room she got the point and has not woken up since. That was 3 weeks ago and the whole family now gets better sleep. I hope this helps. Good Luck

She's basically hungry. supply her a breast milk bottle in case you do no longer decide for to awaken or permit her sleep with you. My daughter did this too. Her tiny tummy replaced into basically hungry. do no longer intentionally starve your daughter. She's 4 months old, her tummy is as vast as her fist. there's a reason she's waking up. She'll at last advance out of it. yet once you probably did no longer decide for to be woken up in any respect hours of the night, perhaps you may desire to have reconsidered parenthood. For the subsequent 18 years you will on no account get an entire good night's sleep back.

Dont' know why unless it's an ear infection. If you are sure she doesn't have an ear issue, than it is a BAD HABIT that you need to help her break. You MUST let her cry. As long as it takes for her to fall asleep. Every time. It will be 3-7 nights of hell, but after that it will be heaven as you finally have a baby who sleeps through the night and lets you do it to. EVery time you respond to her in the night it reinforces the behaviour that you want to stop.

She could be teething. But it also could be that she wakes up and knows that if she cries you or your wife will come in and hold her until she goes back to sleep. A lot of babies wake up in the night and then just put themselves back to sleep. If you get your baby into the bad habit of needing to be held or rocked to sleep then if she does wake up she needs you to help her get back to sleep. Try not going into her room and see if she puts herself back to sleep.

sounds like she wakes up for company.. try leaving her 5 minutes after she starts crying and don't pick her up, then next time leave her 10 then 15 and so on until she realises she doesn't get attention as soon as she cry's. she will soon sleep though

Is it possible that she is teething? It could be the pain that is waking her up.
