I want to buy a DVD burner. I have a friend who has a Sony VAIO and she said Sony told her that in order to use her DVD burner, she needs to get a giga pocket. I dont have a Sony PC, nor do I think I have a giga pocket on my system. Do I need a giga pocket or not? Thanks!

You don't need one.

nope. You can connect an external dvd burner to your computer using an ordinary USB port (the small rectanguar slots in your computer which are about 1/3 inch by 3/4 inch; most computers have several to spare). Here's a good one, you'll find lots out there. http://www.shopping.hp.com/store/product/product_detail/RX901AA%2523ABA?jumpid=in_r329_search/searchresults/lightscribe_RX901AA

If you don't have a spare usb slot, you can look for a "network" dvd burner, which would plug into an ethernet port. If you have a spare bay in your computer, and are comfortable with opening the case, you can use an internal one instead, and you'll also have plenty of choices there. http://www.shopping.hp.com/store/product/product_detail/RX902AA%2523ABA?jumpid=in_r329_search/searchresults/lightscribe_RX902AA
