I don't know about the legality of cancelling. However, I was with NTL who offered Sky 1, so I think that Virgin's in the wrong.

Regardless of the legality, I'm already switching.

A Sky dish goes up tomorrow,
A BT line goes in a couple of weeks.
Once that's in I'll get broadband via the BT line.

and all the Virgin Media stuff will be out of my house.

Well if you have been with them for over a year there will be no problem!! However if you have been with them for less then a year there may be some problems in that they will make it difficult for you!! But as you rightly say you should be entitled to cancel on the grounds that we no longer get all the channels we signed up for!! And the Virgin channel that they have provided in which you can choose what programme you want to watch is crap!! I don't like any of those programmes!!I am trying to persuade my mum to cancel and go with Sky. Richard Branson has billions of pounds, why does he have to be so greedy.

Need to point out that sky did try and raise the costs of their programme by a huge amount. This tactic will drive more to sky so they on a win win with it. Virgin will have to do better then last nights poor offering if they have any chance of survival. I have already invited myself out on Sunday night as cant bear idea of no 24!! Sad old girl that I am.

it would be a fine day if we could cancel our contracts when companies, step out of line with their side of the deal.Id sit tight over the weekend if not a few days longer and see where they go from here,it could be weeks though!
After that legal action should be taken as they are not keeping there side of the deal!

These might help...

More people should do it, or at least threaten to, that way Virgin might see that they need to get back to the negotiating table and sort this mess out, there are thousands of disgruntled customers out there

Well you can always cancel it, as long as you've been with them for 12 months at least.
