“In an explosive new article, the New Yorker Magazine reports that Negroponte’s decision to resign as National Intelligence Director was made in part because of the Bush administration’s covert actions in the Middle East, which so closely echo Iran-Contra. According to investigative reporter Seymour Hersh, the Bush administration, with Saudi Arabia, is secretly funding radical Sunni groups - some with ties to al-Qaeda - to counter Shiite groups backed by Iran. Moreover, this is being done without any Congressional authority or oversight.”

Before the Iran-Contra affair during the Reagan administration, I would have laughed at your question. I don't laugh now. It would not surprise me for a moment if what you say is truly happening.

Mr. Bush wants what he wants and will do anything to get it. He lies everytime he opens his mouth...I don't believe anything - anything he or his representatives say...nothing.

Mr. Bush wants a "win" and has shown he will sacrifice anyone or anything to get it. He is allowing our soldiers to be killed by the dozens, he is responsible for the death of tens of thousands of Iraqi citizens, suspending many of our rights as citizens with that really stupid patriot act. I think once this mess irons out, 10 years from now, we will learn of his covert treachery....

He is truly an awful and immoral man.

Given that Hersh has been spot on, 100% right about _everything_ from Vietnam to Iraq, I'd take his word for it. And given the proven connection between Chicken George and the BCCI (the terrorist's bank), it's very plausible that Bu**sh** is funnelling money to them.

Chicken George has lied about everything; only an idiot would believe what the Whorehouse tells them.

Well, there you go...if "the media" says it, well it must be true. It may well be true, but I find it alarming that you accept some printed media report without doing the hard work and researching it yourself and then you think that you have the basis to arrive at what you call a "conclusion".

You have merely been "hearded" by the media, much like a dolphin "heards" baitfish in order to feed on them.

I am an early entry into the "senior citizen" ranks and have been exposed to "media" for many many years. I can honestly say that I have NEVER found them (a necessary generality accepting the fact that there are exceptions) to be particularly accurate or even balanced in their reporting.

Editors, journalist, anchors etc are people just like you find here or in your neighborhood. We ALL have our beliefs and opinions about the way things are in the world. It is logical then for me to assume that those reporting the in the media also have their own beliefs and opinions.

It is my experience that those people are no more capable of suppressing their opinions and "agendas" than we do here on this board.

Secondary conclusion arrived at many years ago is that what gets reported on the various media is in fact biased according to the political and/or social beliefs and agendas of those in "control" of the media.

In the vast majority of cases, I have found that the agenda is liberal and socialistic. In fact, you can find research recently that supports this fact.

Conclusion: I don't trust or believe ANYTHING reported in the media (yes even Fox) UNLESS I can indipendently verify the facts of the report MYSELF.

Now if you "like" what you read or hear in the media, I would surmize that you are also liberal and socialistic. And it makes perfect sense that you accord reports in the media with a much higher "truth" value than they deserve because the "reports" match what you "already know".

Sounds plausible. Reagan gave all those delightful Taliban fighters all sorts of weapons to fight the USSR. So who knows.

Whatever the outcome of the story, Americans will ignore it. We're good at that.

They can fund whoever they want to and get away with it, and they know that. The Republicans forced their way into office and the American people kept them in office by voting them back in.

And to think that they wanted to impeach Clinton for being a slut but they keep Bush in office because he's just an ****. Weird!

until eventually we've a significant replace in body of ideas about what a success is I say no. Al Qaeda and the Taliban are rooted in faith. subsequently we are genuinely attempting to eliminate “concept” from human beings, and faith is secure by technique of the U.S. structure. Have we eliminated Neo-Nazism or White Supremacy contained in the sixty 5 years after the top of WW2? No it truly is in reality as solid as ever. we try to eliminate a concept. the top of extremism is dependant on the recommendations of different outside governments and non secular imams which have not traditionally been pleasant with the U.S. All we are able to attempt to do independently is attempt to save a “cap on issues”. until eventually outside forces help us with our favor to eliminate extremism, the wrestle will flow on. Our own structure makes it confusing to look at and prosecute extremist concept. a large variety of our own voters stay a threat hostile to our society and authorities, only as Timothy McVeigh became. we've not succeeded in eliminating our own extremist concept so how can we predict to eliminate others? until eventually we placed significant stress on different governments and religions, alongside with Pakistan, the topic matters gained't flow away. We supply Pakistan billions of greenbacks in overseas family members funds, with finished understand-how that Bin encumbered is residing the severe existence in Pakistan between pleasant tribes. we are afraid to “embarrass” Pakistan with accusing them of hiding Bin encumbered and senior AQ administration, with finished understand-how of their complicity. eliminate politics, faith, and the liberal media reporting each “threat free death”, and terrorism could be eliminated. we've human beings waiting, keen and able to take out Bin encumbered. All we lack is the alright to flow in to overseas international locations to end the activity. stop attempting to be a buddy to the global, and in reality be a buddy to the U.S., and lets end truly some our issues.
