Never heard that one... Castor oil - BUT that's a REALLY bad idea!!!
try...
raspberry leaf tea
a couple of drops of clary sage oil in your bath
a lot of sex
hot curry
10 pineapples (eaten)
None of them really work, but some people swear by them and, it'll take your mind off the waiting!

not Cod Liver Oil but CASTER OIL (and not Castol as some numpty american lady drank!).
Don't take too much, slightly over the recommended dose (say not more than 1 to 1 1/2 the recommended dose) and then repeat once the next day if no joy.
It stimulates smooth muscle contraction ie the uterus and bowel so the good news is you wont poo on the birth bed as already cleared out!
Don't be stupid and drink the whole bottle no matter how desperate you are! Aim for poo not the runs!! And if it doesn't work in a day or two give the idea up and go back to the other labour inducers pineapple, curry, hot bath, hot sex and long walks (in whatever order floats you boat!). Don't think they actually work but it keeps you busy!
Good luck!

never heard of the cod liver one, cant see it working. Sex certainly can help, semen contains prostaglndin, which helpsto soften the cevix so I would try this as much as possible !! Has your midwife offered you a membrane sweep ? this is where they put a finger up through your cervix and 'sweep' te membranes attaching the sac to the cervix, I know several people this has worked for.
I tried all these things when due 4 months ago, but nothinjg worked and I did have to be induced. The placenta stops working properly at 42 weeks so going longer than this can obviously have severe implications to your baby. Induction starts slowly, they will give you a prostaglandin pessary up your cervix, then another 12 hours later if no sign, then wait another 12 hours till they up the ante. I went into labour about 2 hours afte the second pessary and it was only 2 hours till my baby was born !
And atleast I didnt have to endure a car journey whilst in labour !!
Good luck

It's a natural laxative and it can give you severe cramps and diarrhea. There are no scientific studies proving that it can start labor especially if your cervix isn't ripe to begin with. It can however cause dehydration and the baby may pass meconium inutero. If you're dehydrated your doctor might induce you whether you want it or not. You can try wide hip circles followed by squats until the pressure builds and then lean over your belly and push. My friend did that and it helped her go into labor and have a really quick delivery.

It dehydrates you, and causes intestional distress which causes cramps which trigger false contractions.
So you end up in labor depleated and tired.
Bad idea.
Walk walk walk, have sex, and use your breast pump or manually stimulate your nipples.
You dont have to be induced honey. Iam sorry, this is a lie of the medical profession. They cannot do anything to you that you dont want them to. They will threaten you and your child, but legally and morally they cannot treat you in any way which you deny.
Once you reach 41 1/2 to 42 weeks you need to have the baby, for the health of the child. But they should be exhausting every NATURAL alternative up until that point.
DONT let them induce you with pitocins or oxytocin, it causes fetal distress, and makes your labor far more harmful to your own body.DONT let them do it. Ask for cervidel first, it softens your cervix, causing dilation in a more natural way, without causing stress to you or the baby.
Dont let doctors bully you. Its not okay.
G'luck.

I took castor oil with 3 of my girls. I was three weeks late with each one. It worked with the last two really well, but the first one was a long drawn out labor, not so intense, but it kept dragging on. The other two were great. With my second one I didn't even have labor pains, just a tiny bit of spotting so I went to the doctor. I was already dilated to 7 when I got there! Had may daughter about 2 hours later. I mixed 4 ounces of caster oil with a bout the same amount of orange juice. It is really thick! It makes you have bowel movements, so be near the bathroom. I guess the way it works on your bowels starts your labor. The only bad thing was that my last daughter had a bowel movement while she was still in the uterus and they had to suck out her lungs. That didn't happen with the other two though. She was fine though. Good luck if you use it. I have never heard of using cod liver oil, just castor oil.

It's not going to induce labour.
Go and see an accupunturist. They have very good success rates at inducing labour.
