Yes, absolutely. When I went for my first appointment, I was so embarassed when they went to do the sonogram, because I was convinced that they were going to say that there was nothing in there.
I was so shocked to see a baby in there, the doctor AND my husband both asked if I was OK, because I looked so surprised.
It's totally normal, and chances are you aren't feeling many symptoms or showing, and that's why you feel all of those doubts. You'll feel much better when you see that little heartbeat.
Oh, and you're going to feel crampy for a day or two because they're going to do a pelvic exam today, so don't worry about the cramps. I was terrified, because nobody told me about the cramps, and they were quite painful.

It is OK. I kind of felt the same way... Even though the pregnancy was unplanned and I was completely shocked to see my HPT positive.. when I went into the doctor, it took a lot longer for that positive to show up! they used the kind that you "drop" the urine onto a dot... so it just generally takes longer... when I saw it wasnt showing up right away i started freaking out..!
you will be OK tho... good luck and hope you have a wonderful pregnancy!

Do you have a previous experience that justifies your fear that your body will fail you and your baby?
Its the natural function of a woman's body to carry and bear children. In fact everything about our bodies functions just for that reason. Right down to the shape of our anatomy and our BMI's.
If you have lost a baby previously, it most likely was very early on, as most pregnancies fail before 12 weeks, and most before 8 weeks. These are generally caused by your body not being convinced it can carry and nurture a child in its current state. Either because of stress, the health and viability of the embryo, or your health and state.
Its not common to have miscarriages for real medical reasons, such as the inability to carry a child to term.
You need to relax. Focus on being pregnant, not on worrying that you wont be.
