I watch an "extended day" program at my kids school and during the last hour I'm usually with two kids that love to compete against each other. We make little contests-who can stand on one leg longest-most jumping jacks..things like that..but I need more ideas please.I was thinking of taking blocks and having stacking contests-so anything with small props is okay too.. thanks

Have them drop small pegs or crayons into a small box or jar or bottle. Make it more challanging by haveing them stand on one leg to do it or close one eye. who ever gets more pieces into the container wins. Have them stand back to back and have them each describe what the other looks like or what the other is wearing. whoever is closest wins. Take a piece of paper, have one draw a circle for a face, have the other draw a single feature of that face (eyes or nose or hair---whatever) and go back and forth like that until they feel they are done-admire the group effort!

how old are they? one thing that may help you, but sometimes backfires on you, is seeing how long they can keep quiet. whomever opens their mouth first or makes a sound has to eat some spinach or something like that. closing their eyes too, that's a good one...sometimes they fall asleep depending on their ages. if you're looking for more esteem-building games, try little quizzes, like, i spy, or spelling, or other observation games, like, what color are your eyes and turn your back on them, what color is your blouse, etc.? hope this helped you!!

Try some games that they won't realize are educational...

who can think of the most words that start with a letter...

Who can name the most colors....

How fast can they do a math problem... that kind of thing is always good.

Maybe hide and seek to see who can hide the longest. Or maybe who can do the most push-ups? stuff like that.
