Is it true that a day or two before you have your baby, you'll have very loose bowel movements? I've not been constipated for the past month, but in the last day or two, my bowel movements have been really loose and cause me to have contractions for about an hour or two afterwards. I'm not eating any different, so my movements shouldn't be any different. At my last check-up, I was 1-cm dilated and 75% effaced, and all day yesterday, I had contractions every 15-20 minutes. I know this is a weird question, but I'm curious.

Yes, often before labor your bowlmovemets become loose. It's your body's way of cleaning itself out preparing for the labor. How far along are you. It sounds like you could be going into labor soon. If the contractions get 5 min appart, call your hospital and go in.

If my wife knew I was telling this, she'd have a heart attack....

Before she had our son, she had major gas and very loose bowel movements. The BM was so bad that a few times, she thought she was actually going into labor due to how bad it made her stomach hurt. She had it about a week before she had our son. I've heard from my brother's that their wives went through the same thing. It's normal. Just make sure you're drinking lots of water. That's what my wife's doctor told her to do, so she wouldn't get dehydrated. Good luck and congratulations!

Some women do have that happen. I never did, but near the end I had looser bowel movements a few times even though I didn't change anything. I think it's because the baby sits really low at the end and pushes on everything else.

That could be a sign that labor is about to start and/or the baby has dropped and is putting more pressure on your bowels. Best of luck.

I did. It's your body's way of cleaning out the system.
Has your appetite changed any? I know the 2 days before I delivered, I wasn't hungry AT ALL. I nibbled, cuz I knew I had to eat, but I wasn't hungry at all.
It's not a weird question, it's a great one.

I don't remember that happening, but my last child was born 24 years ago. I just wanted to say congratulations on the baby! If this is your first, enjoy every moment! They grow up too fast!

It's not uncommon at least ( I had the same thing) and I think it is due to hormones but not sure.
I also had a very strong urge to do major cleaning up !
