my daughters platty has been pregnant for what seems like forever. her gravid spot has become very large and dark. i have noticed though her belly is starting to get bigger. does she sound close to term? im just not sure when to put her into breeding net.

Typical term for platys is 28-32 days though just like with people that can vary a bit with no call for concern. With a large dark gravid spot and a really large belly, she sound very close to full term and I would say go ahead and place her in the breeding net. You might want to place some plastic plants arouns the net or under it to offer her a little sense of protection and of being hidden. She will be much more comfortable that way.

Sounds like she is ready to have her babies. Put her in the breeding net :)
