No, it's no fair, it's not right in any case, no matter the age of the victim. However...

There's a strange thing within the walls of any jail. The hardened inmates, who may be in there in murder, robbery, or drug charges really do have a heart. Once the inmates discover you're in there because you raped a young child, you become the lowest of the low. Pond scum is a higher form of life. Child rapists quite often don't come out in one piece, if they come out at all. (Translation: child rapists are often killed by the other inmates because they dared so harm a child. So, sometimes, there is Justice behind prison walls.)

PS: I hope your dear niece gets the help she'll need.

There is an obvious double standard at work here... (I know I'll catch hell for this totally insensitive viewpoint) Rape, the act of implanting an item into the human body when and where it is not wanted is not a whole lot different than a stabbing, where the item is a knife instead of a penis. It is obvious the knife does far more damage, but the penalty is by far less for the stabbing by knife. The average assault with a deadly weapon gets 3-5 years (if the victim survives). I do agree however, that crimes against children should have double the penalty.... make that triple...

No. Of course that is not fair. Write the O'Riley show or Oprah, they champion cases like this.

Raping a 6 year old or any child, is more than just rape. It's deviant beyond comprehension. Someone that would do that to someone so young should be put to death, because there is a flag missing in their very makeup that says this is in any way, at any time, under any circumstance, okay. To say that this person is fixable, by sitting around with prisoners for two years, the judge should be locked up as well.

First off I think it is one of the (if not the most) most horrible offenses a human being can make, especially when its done to children.

My knee jerk reaction is that they should be put to death or sentenced to life, but like everything other crime it could very well depend on the criminal.

Some people make BIG mistakes in there life. Mistakes that cause others great harm! Mistakes that they should have to pay for!

Question is always, will the person do it again and are they reformed?

Nothing will ever take away what that man did to your niece, but the answer is just not simple!

That sentence would be fair for a statutory rape where the girl was willing and the parents got involved, but all other rapes should be a death sentence.

No, a rapist should be shot. It is never okay. What was he charged with? This is why people take justice into their own hands, which is what I would do when he came walking out of the jail.

Life imprisonment for a rapist is too good.

I think they should be strapped to a table as the prison *****, and when they die they die - justice will have been served.

In the case of a child - cut off the offending organ in public and stone that scumbag to death.

She's been scarred for life and he gets off with two years? That's awful! I'm so sorry for your niece and family. God bless you. No! That's so far past from being "fair" it isn't even funny! People like that should be banned from living on the earth! I wll pray for your family!

No way is that fair.

Not only is he a monster that subjected a woman to a horrifying crime - he is a nonce who has subjected a child to this.

God help us all when he comes out. Let,s hope the rest of the prison population give him the sentence he deserved but the justice system failed to give.

If he raped your niece at 6, that's pedophilia. The first offense for that SHOULD be life.
