Well, I know that when he ran against Gore, Gore won the popular vote, but Bush won all the big states that have the most delegates. As you all know in an election they don't really count your votes, they count the votes of the delegates for your state. And depending on how big your state's population is how many delegates you have. Like I think Texas has maybe 23 delegates. Anyways, depending on the winning vote by the people in a state, that's who the delegates have to cast their vote for. Like let's say Bush won the popular vote in Texas (which he did) they he'd get all of their delegates votes. Anyways, yea, Gore won the popular vote, but since Bush got all the "big" states delegate votes he won. Also, when they were having such a hard time counting Florida's votes and they had to take it to the Supreme Court, I believe that the Supreme Court just sorta picked their favorite out of the two; isn't the Supreme Court all Republicans? Anyways, I don't like Bush and it sucks that he won...if only I could have voted then :(

I wonder that all the time! Everyone I meet offline is like, "I didn't vote for Bush." and I'm always like, "...We live in Texas. Someone had to." I just think it's funny how no one wants to 'fess up. It's pretty obvious that at least half the people who bothered to vote voted for him so either half the people are liars or they don't care enough about their country to vote in the first place.
Yes, some states have valid claims to the idea that he stole their votes but if he truly stole every single vote from Gore and Kerry, then people wouldn't have cheered at his inauguration.

In 2004, GWB garnered 62,040,610 votes for 50.7% of the popular vote.
In 2000, GWB garnered 50,460,110 votes for 47.9% of the popular vote. (In this election, Al Gore received 51,003,926 votes, winning the popular but losing the electoral college).
In 1996, by the way, Bill Clinton received more individual votes than Bob Dole + Ross Perot combined (I don't have the patience to break it down by state to determine electoral votes). In 1992, Clinton received ~45 million to GHWB's ~39 million and Perot's ~20 million.
Given the overwhelming victory in the electoral college for 1992/96 compared to both 2000/04, it's safe to say that most of Perot's votes did come from people that would have voted for the GOP.

No one voted for him?
Ummmmm.....I believe that 48% voted for him in the first election and 52% in the second!
No one in recent years has had a landslide. Even Bill Clinton did not get above 53% I believe, and the fact is that Bill Clinton would have lost had it not been for Ross Perot getting 20% of the vote.
*** Why did I get a thumbs down? My numbers were almost right on just buy memory and even though Bill Clinton won in the electoral college by a huge amount, he still only got about 45% of the vote, and in the election vs. Bush Sr. he would have lost by a landslide had Perot not taken so many votes by people like me voting for him!

Someone did! The Electoral College....the peoples vote is counted as the popular vote...no effect on the outcome of the predetermined winner. If you think that your vote counts for anything else, you are sorely mistaken. Our election process is controlled by people who feel we are too ignorant to make an educated decision, thus The Electoral College makes that decision for us. After the Pres. is in office he signs bills that nobody votes on ( like, war in Iraq, change daylight savings, change bankruptcy laws, and so on.) to suit their own agenda.
Addition: Mike makes a good numbers point....however, I can't get myself to believe that numbers we're given aren't slightly skewed.
Approx. 100,000,000 voters casting ballots? let's see 300,000,000 people...it is safe to say that just under 2/3 are non-voters ( children, teens under the voting age, not registered to vote, felons, registered but too confused to vote, etc.) There are also registered voters who don't turnout. There has NEVER been 100% voter turnout, more like 52% at best...so that puts us way below the 1 mil. mark. But, if in fact...FACT, 100,000,000 voters turn out....that means 50,000,000 people (1/6 of the population) are dictating the outcome of this country's Elections. As far as a majority vote, or popular vote......we get Poll figures, doctored up numbers, phony projections, unsolicited opinions, mud slinging and muck raking to complicate a simple concept. This voting system needs to be retooled... it's up to us to make the peoples voice heard.

The voting machines were rigged. The people who make a large percentage of the voting machines are hardcore Republicans and they rigged the machines so Bush would win. Don't believe me? Read Newsweek, Rolling Stone... I'm sure you can find articles about it anywhere.
