OK, so the other day I tried to connect my Xbox360 to Xbox Live by connecting it up to my laptop via an ethernet cable, it wouldn't work (something about an IP address) so I gave up. But ever since the laptop will not connect to the internet, althugh it is connected to the router.

Any ideas what's wrong with the laptop and how I can sort it?

Ok, when you connect your xbox to your computer, you have to bridge both your wireless and your Ethernet adapter so that you can pass the internet services to your xbox. To do this, you have to hold ctrl and single click on your wirless connection and your ethernet connection. Now right click and hit bridge connections.

Now there is configuring that must be done. Go to start-->run and type in cmd and hit ok.

In the command prompt, type netsh bridge set adapter 2 e

Your connection should work properly now.

To solve the internet problem, if you truly are connected to your router via wireless, then you must make sure that you can access your router. To do this, go to the command prompt and type ipconfig take the IP address that it gives you for your default gateway and put that into an internet browser. There you can configure your router. Make sure that you have a connection to the WAN/Internet through the router and if not, there is usually an option to reconnect. Make sure your protocol is right for your ISP (i.e. PPPOE, Automatic, and so on) this will depend on your ISP.

If you cannot access your router page or when you do the ipconfig command, you don't get any ip address or subnet mask, then you are not connected to your router. Also check and make sure in your router configuration that you do not have mac address filtering on

nendlin, routers do not get confused. The DHCP will take care of the IP problem and it sounds like the router never even knew the xbox was connected to the computer. Once it is disconnected and he disables his connection. The router will release all DHCP clients to that particular MAC address. Then all he has to do is re-enable the the wireless adapter.

yes most internet connecion problems can be sorted by switching off the router or modem and then switching it back on to reset itself, although you may have changed the network settings by plugging in your x box so goto network settings in control panel and see what it has to say there .

this signifies that you may't use prompt on your workstation. truly it doesn't have the prompt "chip". you need to although improve your workstation via installation a prompt card internally. or you need to purchase a usb adaptor, which plugs right into a usb port and would properly be bumped off. I easily have 2 of them and they artwork tremendous!
