Does this lower my property taxes? If so, about how much? Any information is appreciated.

In Texas, you must register your property as a homestead if it's your primary residence. This gets you a break on the property taxes for that property--I think it's 15%, but i'm not sure.

in Florida, when you live in the house, (it is your primary residence), you get 25,000 dollars off of your assessed tax value and they can only raise your taxes @about 1.5 %----I forgot the exact amount- if your home is not homesteaded, you are taxed on the full value of your home and your taxes go up as your property does, so if your property goes up 3 times the value, once you add on , fix it up , or due to the market, then your taxes would triple also.....but if you are in Florida that might change soon anyways, they are getting rid of home taxes possibly
