The parents that do kill their children have massive psychological problems and are in obvious torment and not thinking rationally. They have probably been crying out for help for a long time and obviously have not or cannot get the help they need. There is no excuse whatsoever for killing another human being, yet alone your very own children. I am a parent myself and cannot begin to comprehend doing anything to hurt my child. Also try to think of the life that the children had with parents who would do this. Whichever way you look at it, it is a terrible situation. Unless you are trained to deal with family situations such as this, I don't think we can comprehend what the whole family must have gone through. It will also affect other family members, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers, sisters etc. for a long time to come.

Who knows what goes on in the mind of a person with mental health. I actually feel really sorry for them.. its not their fault they have these problems either. I am sure they didnt ask to be manic depressants! It isnt something you bring upon yourself!

"Saving" their children from the problems they face themselves? "Saving" their children from forever being branded as "the kid whose mum/dad killed themselves"? As another poster said - you can't quantify what is going on in the mind of someone prepared to take their own life.
