If it's a laptop with a touch pad, you don't need a mouse. If it's a desktop PC how can you work without one? They are available everywhere starting at about $5, get one ASAP.
If your PC always opens in safe mode, there is a warning dialogue box that appears on boot, read it carefully and choose the option to boot normally ( I can't remember the exact wording).

you have to press F8 to start in safe mode .... make sure your F8 key is not stuck.

try system restore and go back to a date before you last had a normal start up
