Assuming you are using XP with all the latest updates in place, XP will to run on as little as 128MB RAM. But it will be very slow and will likely give low memory warnings if you open more than one program at a time.
Even with 256MB RAM, same problem. Since Service Pack 2, experience has proven that the practical minimum is 512MB unless you are into gaming, Computer Aided Design or video authoring, then add all the RAM you can afford.
Your owner's manual should tell you how much memory can be installed on your PC.

Not having enough memory in your computer will make switching programs slow. It could make a video choppy, but if that is happening then the computer is probably slow and more memory won't fix that problem.
But, if you want to install more memory, you will need to open the computer. If you aren't comfortable with that, I recommend bringing it into your local computer store and asking them to add more memory. It isn't hard to do, but you have to be comfortable with opening the case and working inside the PC.

Large graphics files need a lot of CPU RAM memory to be manipulated by your graphics applications programs. You should have at least one Gigabyte of RAM (1,000 MegaBytes). Go to http://www.crucial.com to look up your computer and see the options you have for adding more RAM memory.

please tell how much memory is installed...unless it is a very small amount it shouldn't cause this problem. I'd recommend you have at least 256mb on your comp, if not 512mb..1gig is best though :)
most probably a problem with your speakers or software...maybe you should try out different web browsers/players and see if you have still have the problem.

Memory should have nothing to do with bad sound. If the sound is slow then maybe. If it is of poor quality you are:
Using the wrong external speakers
You have damaged your sound card
Both can be fixed and replaced easily.
