Yes and no. When I started dating my fience he had a Best Friend that was a female. I asked if it was an ex gf cause (Ive been there) and he said no. We hung out one night with a few people including her and her new bf. Dont tell me that girl didnt have a thing for him. Oh when we did then when we went here... blah blah blah..... I get it... Then I find out she is a stripper great! And NAsty btw... Im not like that at all im a preppy girl. The he lets is slip one night that the slep together.... " We got drunk one night and well...." I was like WTF!!!!! I was ok with the rest of it... I could deal ,but knowing that I felt soooooo dirty... I give him Sh^t for it all the time now and i wont get over it. Sometime I get really pissed and cant sleep.... I wish I didnt know but I also wish he was honest from the start.

I'd like to know. You'll have a better understanding of where you stand and get an earlier start towards moving on. With things going on behind your back, you're looking foolish to most people and the 2 of you are just growing in different directions anyway...

If he is doing something dangerous and nothing I say could get him not to do it, I would rather not know.
This can be anything from not wearing sunscreen, to going hang-gliding, to driving on I 95 in South Florida, etc. Or any combination of the above.

There are some things I suppose I'd just rather not know. Other things, the more serious ones, I'd rather know. If it were a matter of me not being able to trust someone because of what they did, I'd like to know that sooner than later.

Define "upset"

There are usually choices that my s/o makes which are contrary to the way that I would choose to do. They are not dealbreakers nor life-and-death matters however, so there are fewer arguments and disappointments if I don't know about them. We get along better that way. It's not like she is "hiding" something from me.

Honesty gets you really far....as long as he doesn't lie and try to hide it, I would find it hard to be mad in the face of honesty

Absolutely! If you knew EVERYTHING going on in the world, you'd live a pretty miserable life. Ask yourself if you would like for your s/o to know EVERYTHING you're doing. More than likely, something you're doing would upset him/her. If your s/o is doing something bad enough to destroy your relationship, the situation will eventually surface on its own without having to look for it.

It definitely depends on the "upsetting"action. If it was something that demonstrated lack of character, or lack of respect for me or our marriage, then YES....I need to know. If it was something more along the lines of picking their nose and eating it, then NO.....I don't want to know!

To me the real question is what kind of relationship do you want?
Some relationships wander through dangerous territories and suffer through distrust and are miserable.
My ideal is that you can trust your mate is acting appropriately and that their 'private places' are not disrespectful.
Great Q, Ms. N!

Sometimes ignorance is bliss. I would rather know. I hate feeling like a fool.
