OOOOO!! I just learned equations!! ... Back in August... But x=1. This is how you would solve it:
problem: 3(x-2)-2=x-6
1. Use distributive property. You do what's in the parenthises. So that means you have to multiply 3 by x and 2(Note: There's a subtraction sign before the 2 so that makes the 2 negative.). After you do that the equation would look like this: 3x-6-2=x-6.
2. Combine "like terms". In this case it's the -6 and -2. So you add them together and that equals -8. So now this is what the equation would look like: 3x-8=x-6.
3. Now you can basically do the equation. add 8 to 8 and to 6 on the other side. Note: What you do the the right(or the left) you have to do on the left(or the right). so then after adding 8 to 6 you have to -1x from 3x(it doesn't matter if you put a 1 in front of ONE x. The value stays the same). So now it would look like this:
3x -8= x -6
- 1x +8=-x +8
-----------------------
2x=2(The 8 and the other x canceled eachother, so thier value equals 0 so you don't need them anymore)
4. Now you have to get x by itself. So then this is what it's going to look like:
2x = 2
---------(divide by the number next to x)
x= 1
TA DA!! ... This probably looks confusing, but this is how they taught me...

X=0 First Multiply the 3(X-2) to get 3X-6-2X=X-6. Then get all the Xs on one side and the numbers on the other side. 3X-2X-X=-6+6 which equals 0=0
