I remember seeing that episode. If you have Fox Network (FX) on your cable/sattelite line-up, you may see it, and record it. THey do have COPS episodes from the year it started.

If you don't want to wait for a rerun - because Cops seems like one of those shows that is always airing somewhere - then it depends on how much you want it and how much you are willing to pay for it.

Now, you could contact FOX to find out the production company that produced it. (Unless you know it already.) Once you know the production company, you could contact them to see if they keep copies of the shows in their archives. Then you would have to beg, plead, or maybe entice them in some way to run you a copy of it. Your best bet would be to speak to the post production coordinator. That person is high enough to know where to find it, but low enough to actually pay attention to you. ( A producer, for example, wouldn't even answer your call.) And truth be told, post production coordinators don't make a ton of money so you could probably pay them a little to do it.

Now, if the production company doesn't really exist anymore, or you can't get someone to respond to you, your next step would be to contact a business out in L.A. that specializes in footage of old TV shows. Everyday, all they do is tape every channel and store the footage to sell later. They would definitely have Cops episodes. One thing though - it could cost a little bit. I had to get some footage a few years ago for my work and it was a couple hundred dollars. I don't know what your cost would be.

I don't know the name of a particular business to try, or even what yellow pages header it may come under - possibly "TV footage" or "stock footage" - but you can try the LA 411 site. It is an information directory that specializes in TV production. The web address is www.la411.com
