I don't believe death is a defeat for us because if you're SURE you're going to heaven to meet your maker, it's like passing through a doorway into eternity where you will meet all your loved ones. And this life is preparation for the next.
My Christan father died at 60 years old from pancreatic cancer and I felt deep inside along with my mum that he had a specific role to carry out in heaven. I realised that i will see him again.
As is says in the Bible - to live is Christ, to die is gain. It's the beginning not the end.
That's why we have to make ourselves right with God otherwise we don't have this assurance.

Nope, we go on and if you accept death as a defeat then you are just going to be stuck.

It depends...
If one dies young, then yes, it's a major defeat. And not only for him, but his family also.
But if one has lived his life, then no. Death is simply the next step.

death is the termination of the sufferings that the physical self has injured...so,it is not a defeat but a victory!!!

Death is not the end. I delieve that our soul can't be destroyed , the soul can't die it just exsists. Our fear to death is because we are humans and we're afraid of what we don't know.

No because i don't know what kind of life comes with death...maybe it's better than this life...who knows?
