You need to release eggs in order to ovulate. It is generally about 14 days after the 1st day of your menstral cycle. Ths is an average for some women, not all though. Depends how long your cycle is.

Yes ... in order to ovulate your eggs have to be released during your cycle. You can go to the DR and have them do ovulation test to confirm it. They will then put you on some fertitility drug to help you ovulate.

My best friend just spent 4yrs taking fertility drugs to help her ovulate and conceive.

Yes. Ovulating means that the egg is released before you have your period otherwise you probably have PCOS.
