There are millions of things in todays world that you can atribute to the Romans.

David l answered this question very well and fully. But the one aspect of Roman life that i think has most impact on us today is their system of government by senate and elections, which we have greatly refined, as they themselves inherited and refined the democratic government of Greece.

They affected our languages as they did all of the Romance languages (French, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian, Latin; culture, for sure including architecture, sculpture, literature (Remember, they conquered the Greeks whose culture they learned from in all the arts. They enslaved many Greeks and made them teachers of their children.), and they were superior warriors.
