Metallica.
Kirk and Lars are an average guitarist and drummer, respectively. They were not the first thrash metal band, several other released demos before Metallica did. They do have good songs, especially from their first 3 albums, but there are tons more metal bands that have better riffs, leads, hooks, and solos.

Satyricon - 7.5 (FAHKIN' outstanding!!!) Black Sabbath - 9 (mythical... i don't understand all of us who doesn't like Sabbath who listens to METAAAAAAAAL) Metallica - 7 (R.I.P. Cliff - For me, they did no longer have a similar part after Justice For All) Sepultura - 8 (huge fan of their in the previous stuff. under The continues to be is a masterpiece) Tiamat - 5 (I dig their sound and arrangements yet i'm no longer extremely a fan) Slayer - 9 (FAHKIN' EH!!! one in each of my fave bands of ALL TIME) Pantera - 3 (become not in any respect a fan, yet can take excitement in Dimebag's expertise) device - 2 (not in any respect had any pastime contained in the band) Horns 2 ya!!!

I would also say that ozzy is currently overrated.
as for overall, not just current, most of the bands that come to mind are oadering on hard rock, not metal, like AC-DC and GNR.
