Self control, I agree sometimes I desire to stay up till all hours on it, but then I look at the clock and say woah. Got to have your priorities straight.

It is probably because you lack any other favourite pass time! You feel quite secure and happy in front of your computer. It seems that you are leading a lonely life. The addiction to computer is developed due to the tendency to stay connected. If over done, it may become a psychological disorder, you may feel uneasy if u r not connected! So, try to find out your other interests go out for dinner some times and read a good novel in the night instead of checking out "every thing else on your pc". Smiles.

First off, the question should be "Why do I spend so much time on the internet", because without that aspect I doubt that you would be on for long.
And let me explain why. I don't look at the internet as a thing. I think of the internet as a representation. The internet represents a WEALTH of a huge amount of knowledge and entertainment, whatever you can think of, it is probably on here, and right here at your fingertips.
I can't think of 1 person in the world that couldn't find something they like/would like to have/would like to know/need on the internet. Whatever type of person you are, and whatever you like to do, or ANYTHING, it is on here. I don't think 1 person in the world could fall into this category.
Myself? I'm interested in computers, software, music, video games, programming, women, education, politics, and self-betterment. Most of the categories I have described, you couldn't get more information/content itself more-so than any other place in the world other than the internet.
So think about that when you ask yourself that question.
So don't beat yourself up, and don't allow other people to make you think otherwise. The best off people know computers. I know people who make 50 dollars an hour alone off of just knowing what they are doing.
Look at Bill Gates man. Richest man IN THE WORLD (off of computers by the way). It was reported in the news that he was having trouble getting his daughter away from the computer, and he even had to restrict her time on the internet to 1 hour a day. And this is the owner of Microsoft.
Don't you kinda find that funny?
By the way, I'm studying to be a programmer, when I finish in about a year I will be making more than 20 dollars an year. And that's more than my parents make, and in more time I can earn more than 40, and more than lawyers make.
As long as you are spending most of your time on WOW or an MMORPG. I used to be pretty much addicted to an mmo (for about 2 months) and I realised it and immediately broke it off and I don't play any mmorpg's to date, not even try them.

Try to have a note on top of the screen to remind you that its time to finish after lets 30mins or 1hrs. Get books, I find them to be a good substitute to computers and tvs.. that is if you love reading.
