From the Anna Nicole Smith case, with the fight to get her to the bahamas. I know that she was put on a private jet and taken to the bahamas this morning. However what if a normal person were to die in a state, and was supposed to be buried in the home state. How would you get the body there? Do you have to pay for a plane? Or could it just go on a regular commercial jet.

Lets say Im in Florida, my homestate is New York. I want to be buried in New York. How would I get my body to New York?

Your family would have to hire a funeral home director where you died. He would then get the coffin and do the prep work. The coffin with you in it would be shipped by commercial jet, either passenger in the cargo hold or by cargo jet.
A funeral home, hired by your family would then meet the plane and remove you in the coffin, with their hearse, to a funeral home for eventual viewing.
It would be way cheaper to get creamated and have your ashes scattered in the ocean.

When my father passed away, the funeral home placed him in one of their hearst and drove him about 900 miles to where the funeral was occur. If driving was impractical (like in the case of going to the Bahamas, they coffin would be shipped on a commercial airplane like any other "luggage". A funeral director or family member would ride as a passenger on the same flight to check and claim the body.

Smith was wealthy enough she could afford a private rather then commercial flight.
