I just can't have a sexual chat with someone online. I would keep imagining a 300 lb beerbelly in an open bathrobe with beard stubble, hair on his back and a wet cigar hanging out of his mouth. Ewwww...

i don't think men are so likely to want to continue a sexual relationship offline - for anything but sex, anyway. if they did i would be scared like - eww, creepy.
but i had a married male friend who started out having a sexual relationship with someone online. he was in california and she in england, so he thought he was safe. their relationship continued with a lot of emails back and forth for about a year. he lied to her about being married and everything. one day, he got a call from her. she was at the airport 20 miles away for a surprise visit from england!
he got mad at her, came clean, refused to see her, called her an idiot and hung up!
i would never have a sexual relationship with someone online or, even a serious nonsexual relationship. i would be afraid i was talking to a married person, an old geezer, or another girl, for that matter. you just can never tell.....
if you do meet someone online, you should make arrangements to 'meet' them as soon as possible, i think. of course, you have to be careful when doing so - meet in a public place and all that but if they aren't willing to meet, i would not take anything about them seriously.

As with any interaction between people there is a possibility that people will get emotionally involved, even if it is a technical interaction.
