1.LOTR - Fellowship of the Ring/Two Towers/Return of the King I
consider thetrilogy as one b/c that's how Tolkien wrote it. I loved these movies because I saw that the whole production - from the director and actors to the designers and artists - believed in these movies and it projected on the big screen. I loved the story as a kid and to see it come to life as an adult was fulfilling.

2.Saving Private Ryan. The cinematography was innovative and Spielberg, for me, captured chaos and fear in those first few minutes of the movie.

3.Shawshank Redemption. Well written. Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman - subtle, unobtrusive, and believable.

4.Sense and Sensibility. Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet. Love won and lost. Emma Thompson adapted this screenplay and just totally bowled over by how Emma and Kate were so connected.

5. The Patriot. You keep thinking that it could not get worse for Mel Gibson's character...but it does. I made an emotional connection to this movie b/c the young actress that played his daughter that would not speak, looks like my youngest daughter. When she finally spoke...to this day I can't watch that movie without having a whole box of Kleenex on my lap.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest because the story line is so creative and unforgetable. Also because the acting, the directing, the visual effects, the sound editing, and the sound mixing is incredible!

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King because I love the books and I was so excited about Peter Jackson making them into movies. The special effects and the battles in this movie are unbelievably incredible! The story line and the cast are also fantastic.

Blood Diamond because of the story line, it is depressing yet entertaining. You find yourself caught up in the story of what people would do just for a diamond. The acting is marvelous, Leonardo DiCaprio did an excellent job with the accent and he made the character believable.

Courage Under Fire because Meg Ryan, Matt Damon, and Denzel Washington did fantastic in this movie about heroism and courage! One of my favorite movies because I just love the story and the actors in this film.

Hook because I have always loved the story of Peter Pan, but this film is not the traditional story of Peter Pan. I love how they had Peter Pan grow up and forget Neverland, then he has to make himself remember to save his kids. This movie is very entertaining.
