if the philippines are under the british then the american will not wage wars against their cousin and there will be no casualties among the filipinos.i think that the british are far better ruler than spanish.

Your statement about Big Brother not hurting Big Sister may be true but I honestly think they are as bad as each other.
The Portuguese were the first to "discover" the Philippines, but they decided to hand over to the Spanish, who were well known for converting native Indians to Christianity with violence & cruelty.
Imagine how different the Philippines would be today if it were the British who claimed first pick!
It would be a case of "would you like a cup of tea luv"?

Your blaming America for Filipino casualties? I believe the Japanese had a big hand in Filipino casualties. Would the Philippines be better under British rule? Maybe if you look at former British colonies like Singapore and Hong Kong, but then you have places like India that were under British rule and didn't turn out to good. Corruption is the problem in the Philippines. Remember when you point that finger at someone else there are fingers pointing right back at you.

You are quite correct that British imperial rule was far preferable to any, including Spanish or US.
However I don't think that Britain ever wanted the Philippines.

Neither of them will make Philippines better off, economically or militarily. All the countries mentioned have success stories as well as failures in colonizing countries or territories. It depends on the people. Pres. Manuel L. Quezon once said: "I'd rather see a Philippines run like hell by Filipinos rather than Americans running Philippines like heaven!" This is a self-fulfilling prohecy as Philippines had been run like hell ever since, a government run by hungry pack of wolves, crocodiles and another insatiable, greedy lifeforms you can hardly say humans.

I dont think the philippines appreciated ANY country making themselves at home on their land. MIght as well ask which is better, getting hit with the leather part of the belt or the buckle?
