Dear ,am living in sharm el sheikh, so my advice is ''if you want to dive -stay in sharm & it is the best for dive , if you want to wendsearff you should go to dahab (note: there is no airport in Dahab) so the faster transportaion is egypt air from cairo to sharm el sheikh only 1hour then from sharm to Dahab with East Delta Bus is also 1 hour & the best diving center is 'Padi' -Dive in- camel dive- international divers.

you can book flight teickt from your country direct to sharm then you spend 2 days around after you can travel to cairo with egypt air and spend 8 days all over Cairo.

wish you have a nice vacation.

I just returned from 6 weeks in Egypt. 2 in Alexandria, and 4 in Cairo. Dehab is quite far from Cairo so if you don't want to stray too far from Dehab you should just stay on Sinai. But really not much to do there unless you are an avid diver. I flew to Sharm El Sheikh for two days, but did not like it (I used to live in Florida - it looks exactly the same) so I got on a bus back to Cairo. You are not leaving yourself much time to do anything in Cairo really. If you want to go to the museum that will take up an entire day. The Citadel will take up at least half of another. Also keep in mind your travel time between Dehab and Cairo. Super Jet has the fastest bus (and best service) but will still take 6 to 9 hours to make the trip one way. Super Jet does not run out of Dehab. From there you have to take East Delta Bus Co. to Cairo, unless you go to Sharm first then take Super Jet from there. Or you could fly Egypt Air from Sharm to Cairo in one hour. Too bad you can't stay longer.

1 Day Cairo, Cairo dahab, dahab Cairo 2 days, what you expect to see in 1. don,t expect to see much else but desert, if you are coming to dive go direct flight to dahab, while you are there go to mount Sinai and St Cathrine Monastery, take another holiday another time to see the rest of Egypt,
plenty of dive schools to choose from make sure they have the certs, do not book on the Internet, you are better off and it will be cheaper, to get there and negotiate the Price.
