I am investigating the social practices surrounding Valentine’s Day and analyzing them in terms of the theories of Mauss' "The Gift." Anthropologists believe that gifts are a means of expressing and producing social relationships, but the dynamics of gift giving are never straightforward…indeed, many question whether a ‘pure’ uncalculated gift is even possible. And yet, in American culture, we believe that love is a sentiment that produces true expressions of generosity. My job is to explore how rituals, gift-giving, and consumer behavior surrounding Valentine’s Day structure romantic relationships and to what extent Mauss’ theory of reciprocity applies to gifts that are meant to express affection.
I am looking for people to interview about their experiences, gifts and other favors exchanged. So...please tell me about your Valentine's Day this year! How was it? What gifts were given and recieved? Anything else significant?
Thank you in advance for all of your help!!

Well, my valentines day started a week early. The BF took me on a cruise to the mexican riviera (sweet huh). We hung out got drunk and loved each other for the entire week. While on the cruise we bought each other gifts. I got him a very expensive watch and he bought me a beautiful 2 carat tanzanite ring. We had a blast. Valentines day itself we both had to work. We work different hours so we didn't get to see each other. We called each other a couple times during the day when we got the chance to talk. He reminded me to think of him when I wear the beautiful ring he bought me.

Now mind you, when he bought the ring we were just browsing. Mazatlan mexico has great deals on jewlery. I saw the ring and tried it on just to see it. The salesman had noticed me looking at it. My BF asked if I liked it and I told him, "Its okay." He knows me well enough that loved the ring. He asked them to wrap it up. Lets just say that ring covered my Bday, our 2 year anniversary, and christmas. It was not an engagement ring though.... (Darn).

am i able to've that ladies digits or digital message or some difficulty? :D For one you're able to do extra then get rid of his video games, incredibly i'd basically circulate away him in penitentiary provided that that way is the single technique he learns a lesson. Then whilst he gets sent loose, take him to a recommendations physician (sorry for now no longer employing the expert term :P), if he shot on the instructor the isn't any understanding what he would do. Be carefull and basically applicable fulfillment

My Valentines was good. I got a kiss from my girlfriend and I gave her a big bunch of roses.
All these girls around me were looking at me as if it was for them. Hahah.
This year was the best so far, since it's the only Valentines for me that was actually good.

i think,,,,,, people give someone a gift.......... juz for........... follow someone. they give chocolate........... why chocolate? cuz choc are sweet....... like love.......... sweet........... but it doesnt mean that if u gave someone chocolate u must love him/her, it juz.......... a symbol for caring each other............ but someone says that chocolate is bitter.......... like broken heart......... bitter.............. so some one must be hate valentine's day, cuz they never get a choc. (this valentine is the first time i received a choc)
