Did you know hamsters store food in their cheeks? Maybe he's munching on something he stored. If not, then Ieeeee..... think it might be wisest to call your local vet. You'll get a quicker response that way.
Sorry I can't be any more help

I apologize for what I am about to say. Several years ago, my cousins had two hamsters in the same cage, with one of those fake mini tire toys for them to hide in and crawl through. One day, one of them got stuck... Next morning, the other one had eaten the legs off the stuck one. I am not sure if this is normal, but I think it was attempting to help the stuck one....which died. I think hamsters will 'eat' away at anything abnormal on their bodies, and they have been known to chew off their own legs! Vet....that is a very expensive option for a hamster (sort of like disposible pets)...maybe switch it for another one that looks the same. I think Lisa on the Simpsons had a hamster at one point...or was it Bart?

,if the hamster is lonely he will start to pull all his hair out not a pretty sight he will just keep digging at himself /herself
we had a few over the years they said it stress related.
