I know. I have been trying all morning to get through on the phone with no luck so decided to try on-line instead, and as you said, no website. I only set up my contract with them a week ago and so am still in the cooling off period. Feeling decidedly cooled (as Sky one was one of the channels I wanted) I'm trying to end my contract. I wonder if they will keep this up for the next week so I can't...

ok - as a virgin customer myself I am mighty pissed at losing sky one and sky sports news (I dont think i even knew the other 3 stations existed!!) But the thing is, I hate BSkyB with a passion. Whereas the NTL/Telewest company was littlemore than a fly in the ointment, this new Virgin Media company has a bit of clout and it is obvious that BSkyB are worried about having to face a SERIOUS competitor - hence the increase in fees to Virgin from £25 mill to £50 mill despite the market share of all 5 of these stations decreasing this past year.
My advice to you is stick with Virgin. Sky can't afford to take on Virgin's customers at the special rate and the price will soon rise. But the most important thing is that Murdoch ISNT allowed to be sole ruler of satellite television

The whole situation is pathetic and childish. Sky are blaming Virgin, and Virgin are blaming Sky. I think I would have a great deal more respect for them if one company stood up and admitted to making a mistake, but this is big business, so that'll never happen!
I think Virgin may have underestimated the impact this will have on their business, Ive just been speaking to a Sky Engineer who is installing on my street and he said that his workload has shot through the roof.
I've just found out that we can keep our NTL phone line, (we don't have a BT one), and get Sky TV, they are offering Virgin Media customers a special deal for £15. As soon as I have paid off my NTL bill, I'm off. The worst thing is that, (not suprisingly, NTL customer service has always been beyond apalling), Virgin customers had to find out about the Sky debacle through the press! Has any Virgin customer here had any contact from Virgin itself regarding this? I doubt it.
What a major c**k up.

I had the same problem this morning, I rang Virgin, the man said it might be due to my popup blocker, and offered a £1 a minute phone line to resolve the problem with my computer.
Very pleased I never considered the offer, especially when on a later attempt to get to the website, there was an apology about the problems with it.
It must have been fixed within the next few hours.

I've just tried their site and was able to get their site. It did have an explanation though that they were getting themselves sorted out.
A Virgin media spokesman has said that they were revamping their products to reflect the recent events between themselves and Sky. I guess this is what is happening now.
Maybe their will be some goodies offered to offset the dreadful loss!!! of Sky News, Sky One and Sky Sports News.
Sir Richard will no doubt come up with the goods, he usually does.
