A friend of mine was asking another friend about it and I know nothing of a holy day, I must admit. So I'm posting it here.

I suspect your friend is mistaken.

1. Wikipedia does not show it as a date of major significance for any predominant religion.

2. I wonder whether your friend was getting confused about Diwali, which has a shifting date - in 2007 it is on Friday 9 November, and last year it was on Sunday 22 October.

3. There is also an outside chance that your friend means 5 November. That is Guy Fawkes Night in the UK (and some former colonies) - although it is largely secular in its celebration, it does commemorate the defeat of a Catholic conspiracy to assassinate the English Protestant King in 1605. However I doubt that your friend means that.

The Catholic Church celebrates All Saints day on November 1st. National Unity Day is celebrated on Nov. 4th this year. That is not a religious holiday
