In about 5 billion years the Sun will use up its nuclear fuel and start expanding into a red giant star. Eventually all of the oceans will be boiled away, life on the Earth will end, and the planet itself will be swallowed up by the Sun. I think that counts as the end of the world.

Each of us, in our own time will meet the end of the world as far as we're concerned. If we're lucky, we will be surounded by loved ones, if we're really lucky, we will be lined up fo the next life before we even realize this one has ended.

It's the end of the world, as we know it...
Eschatology= studies theory of end of the world in mythology, theology and philosophy. Eshatos means "last" on greek. When I was studying, they forced us to read about these theories of end in mythologies of some nations, even tribes. It is quite interesting.
Than you have Christian eschatology, of course, which is well known - second coming of Jesus, final judgment, apocalypse, etc.
