Why is it that the only people that don't like the UN are Muslims???
There are several reasons that the UN was created. Just because the UN hasn't acted as a global government, it doesn't mean that the UN has failed in any respect. Remember that the UN was never supposed to act as a global government. One of the fundamental concepts that the UN was built on, was the respect for state sovereignty.
It is funny that you are arguing that the UN is only there to serve the powerful states. I am sure that if you go and speak to the powerful states they will argue that the UN is only there for the poor and weak states and it doesn't really benefit them at all. After all, the poor states that cannot afford much maintenance fee (every state has to pay a certain amount to the UN contingent on the what they can afford) yet they have exactly the same rights in the UN as the rich states. Is that fair Mo??? Is it fair that states like Palestine and Jordan (who hardly give any money to the UN) have the same voting rights as the USA and Japan (who practically provide most of the funding).
Look at how much good the UN has done. Whenever there is a catastrophe, or a conflict, where does all the aid come from??? Look at how much good the UN had done for human rights and the poor etc. With all due respect, take the recent Asian tsunami in 2004. The majority of the victims were Indonesian Muslims, yet look at how much aid the UN and western states donated and compare that to those of the wealthy Arab states. Exactly.
The day that the UN is disbanded will be a very dangerous day. Remember that WW2 only happened after the League of Nations ceased to be irrelevant.

Only satisfying the US and other strong countries? Come on, the USA has not been happy with the UN for 2 decades. The UN has nothing for the USA.....even the 9/11 attacks. It was right outside the UN's door, and they still didn't want to help the USA. What it was supposed to do, is make it so that war would not break out, by negotiating the peace between countries. You are right, it no longer has any bite. Look at how well Iraq, Iran, N. Korea have followed there efforts.....by spitting on them, and there resolutions.

I don't know what Strong country you think is satisfied with the UN's operations and success rate. But as a citizen of the USofA the only UN operation I am satisfied with was one of their first. Korea. And I'm not talking about discussions over North Korea's nuclear ambitions. I'm talking the Korean War. Their success rate and accomplishments are nil.
* if you are weak & try to defend yourself against the strong aggressor, the UN band you as a terrorist!
Au Contrair Mon Ami. The reason people get labled as terrorists is not because they are defending themselves. It's because they set off bombs in markets and cafes with the intent to kill civilians. They are not defending themselves. They are causing non -productive chaos.
But you are right on one aspect. The UN does not satisfy the purpose for which it was created.

What will be the point to dismantle UN . After all if US feel they dont want to be in UN anylonger they can pull out of it. What will be instead if UN is dismantled ? UN is after all a meeting place for representatives from all over the world . Even if it doesnt come to a vote alots of diplomacy is going on between locked door that probably have prevented many human lifes from dieing in wars.

Pathetic. The UN is irrelevent in the world today, because they refuse to enforce resolutions they pass, several countries violate the sanctions they pass, and ignore countries that violate the Declaration of the Rights of Man. Any orginization that had Saddam Hussien's representative at the head of the human rights commission has some serious issues.

The UN is a farce and a disgrace. It's riddled with incompetence and corruption.
It has no "teeth", no one takes it seriously.
When an organization ( The UN ) brands a peaceful nation like Israel as a terrorist, and their neighbors attacking them as being "oppressed", then no one can really take this organization as being legitimate.
The organization is a hinderance to the world, and it's affairs. This is one reason why the US makes unilateral decisions and does not consult the UN.
The organization needs to be disbanded.

Invading any u . s . demonstrates make certain and being resolute alerts power. of route that is larger to invade the right u . s . quite than the incorrect one, yet honest people can disagree on it truly is which. the point is made in both journey. in my opinion, i do unlike warfare. overseas affairs will be stimulated extra effectively with diplomatic and fiscal threats and substances, overseas help and covert operations. As for exciting the commercial gadget, public works initiatives are extra efficient than wars because once you're performed, you've a street or a park quite than some intense priced missile fragments, a burned out overseas capital and a collection of body-bags.

No but I think the US should leave the UN and stop giving billions of dollars in foreign aid to ungrateful countries. I think the US should take care of itself and let the rest of the world take care of themselves and then we would all be much happier.
