Different things.
You mean psychological or fysical?
If you see the human body-and-spirit as the living organism it is, you can see that we need energy to keep us going.
We need food to fuel or bodies, and mental food to fuel our brains.
See it simply as a weight balance. If you give more then you get, the balance goes to the wrong side and you will become tired. That goes for the brains as well as the body.
Of course it is far more complex, but look psychologically:
If someone or something (or yourself!!) drains you from your energy, it will have an effect on your mind and body as well. You will feel without energy, drained, tired.
This is a sign that you need to take better care for yourself. Do something that gives you energy instead of drains you from it. Get the balance back.

Well, I believe that for the majority of the population, it is the lack of sleep. I f you combine that with long day at school or work you are bound to be tired.

It's like... your vehicle needs regular feeds of petrol to keep it running, and you can't run it for too long in case the engine gets heated up. Likewise the human body can take up only a certain amount of stress at a time without food and rest.

Lack of Love.
If you're doing what you love, you'll feel less tired doing it.
If you're not doing what you love, you'll get tired more easily.
That's why people working 8+ hours every day doing what they don't love, makes a lot of people get tired of work more easily.
