I mean I don't want anything to happen to us. We both just want my parents to have custody of our child, if anything shall happen to us. Does anyone know how I would go about doing this, without costing me a fortune? I know that money shouldn't be an option, since we want it to happen, but I have been quoted over a 1,000 dollars. And that is a chunk of money for us to come up with. What other options are out there, we live in Indiana. Thanks for reading and for you answers!

some law says, that if both parent die, the children go with the youngest grandmother , i imagine there are exceptions. if you leave a legal note about it, that should work.

You have to write a will, designating your mother as the legal guardian of your child and all future children. If you go to a business supply store, they have kits that help you write up that documentation. You then may wish to have it read over by a lawyer - even an expensive one should cost about $250 for the read over and advice to improve it;m ost will charge less. Find a lawyer that specializes in wills.

Then you have to have it witnessed and sign it in front of that witness.

Then put it is a safe place, like a safe deposit box, and make sure mom knows of it and has access to a key.

I went to the library and got a book with all kinds of legal forms. Even had a disc for computer and was able to print the copies of what I wanted. Very informative and had forms for everything. Just print, fill it out and take to a Notary and sign it. All for free.

you should check at staples and some times they have that last will and testament paper already written up you just need to fill in the blanks and then after you have done all that just take it to the notry and have all three of you signing that you agree to it and then you are good that is a legal binding agreement cost about $25.00 after buying the paper and having the notry thing done

Have decent life insurance and get a Will made up (should be around $500). Or they even have online programs to do your own and then get it notorized. Give your Mom a copy and put a copy in your safe at home or bank.

You can do a will online, get witnesses to sign it, and then if you mail it to your mom and dad and tell them NOT to open it, put in a safe place... only upon your demise should it be opened infront of lawyers... I have heard this is completely legal and free...
