In this instance the red flag warning probably means the risk of wildfire is high. Fire weather means that the conditions in your area have primed everything to start fire. It must be really dry there.

The NWS takes different items to determine when to post a Red Flag Warning. Temperature, Winds, Humidity, and dew point.

Winds must be 15mph or above, Humidity must be below 25% and most have a low dew point. Also they work with people out in the field to decide if the fuels are dry since last storm.

Red flag warnings in the southeast normally have a season between February - April. Once the humidity starts to build extreme fire danger goes away

Fire Weather is a National Weather Service program that provides specialized weather information in support for the prevention of wild land and forest fires. If a fire does break out, the fire agency may request that a special spot forecast be made for that fire so that the fire fighters can plan how to attack the fire to save lives and property with the least amount of danger to the lives of the fire fighters.

If the land is dry and NWS expects weather conditions will likely rapidly spread any fire quickly that may start up in there forecast area, they will issue red flag warning. This will be the signal to the fire agency that they must gear up and be prepared to fight any fire that may form in their area of responsibility. This usually means fire trucks and other fire equipment will be on high alert and all fire stations, air tankers stations, and fire command centers will be be maned with a fulll staff and be ready for action at a second 's notice.
