I'm always disappointed if I don't feel like i get what I pay for. So I I can always find a better more reasonable restaurant to go to than an overpriced one. No chef's that good.

I absolutely love Lacroix at the Rittenhouse Hotel in Philadelphia and would recommend it highly to anyone in the area. I've dined there many times, and have racked up a respectable bill of over $500 for 2, drinks excluded, everytime, especially with the 6-course tasting menu. This is the best traditional French food I've ever had, and the service is impeccable. It's a dining experience, enhanced by the company. I would love nothing more than to work there.

I've also eaten at L'Esperence (Marc Meneau's restaurant in France), and had a 3-hour dining tour. I don't remember how much it cost, but it definitely was worth it because I had also worked as an apprentice there. Not only did I get to eat the food, but I also learned how to recreate the dishes at work and, in theory, at home. The food and the learning experience made it worth it.

That's a tough one. I've eaten at the Crystal Tree and Christopher's, which are higher end, but can't remember the food. I've eaten at some steak place in Minneapolis and all I can remember is I had veal and a bottle of champagne (and the bill came to $175.)

But those weren't that memorable. I've been to many more upscale-casual places that made a better impression. Like I will drool for the veal in lemon caper sauce at Fume Bistro, or for the seafood enchiladas at Don Pericos. In those cases, one's expensive, the other cheap. But what I remember is the food, not the cost. I guess it's all subjective.

Although this wasn't the MOST expensive restaurant I've dinned at, it was the most expensive ENTREE i've had. My girlfriend at the time, took me to Emeril's in Orlando, FL, for valentines's day. She paid! lol... I ordered the Two and half pound whole Lobster that was stuffed with shrimp. It was by far the best lobster I've ever had and I ate the whole thing and was tempted to order a second one. The price was $25 a pound so it came out to $62.50 for the lobster. YUM!!! It was definitely worth it to me because I did not pay hahaha

"Le Bec-Fin" in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, may have been the most expensive restaurant I have dined. Its six-course menu of French cuisine was very delectable. Although I am not sure if it was worth the hundreds, it was a wonderful dining experience!

I have been to Wolf gang pucks in Las Vegas it was OK I did not have to pay the bill some places are all about hype. I have been to bobby Flays place here in NYC and it was a great steak but I have had a few steaks that only cost about 20.00 and it was just as good. So to answer your question yes it can be worth it but it does depend on the place you are eating.

...first... it's never worth it... but it's always "fun"... Ok...in Boston at the Quincy Market Place galleria is a restaurant called. SixtyNine... (some years ago)... everything on the menu was "without a price"... nothing was priced... if you had to ask, you couldn't afford it... (4) of us had Lobster, Fish etc. with all the trimm's...drinks the works...$475. then there was the bar bill.
(you only live once... and it was great)....

The most expensive dinner I paid for was at Morton's in Seattle, for two - over $300 - and it was worth every bite! The most expensive "dinner" (more like appetizers & drinks) that I experienced that I DIDN'T pay for, for three, was at Boa's in Las Vegas, at Caesar's - over $400, and it wasn't even dinner! - but it was TOTALLY worth it. The food was fabulous, the wine was incredible, and they have their own martinis that are to die for!

A friend and I stopped for a snack whilst shopping in Harrods and had some oysters and glass of champagne which come to over £50.

It was nice but not filling at all.

In terms of total extravagance, it was the Al-Muntaha restaurant at the Burj al-Arab hotel in Dubai. Definitely worth it, knowing that, though the food was extraordinary, you simply cannot put a price on such an experience.
