Definetly the Venetian. Treat yourself if you don't get away that often. The flamingo is an older hotel and not that great. There is a lot to do and see at the Venetian.

While the Venetian is beautiful, Paris and Treasure Island are smack in the middle of the strip. Paris is newer and flashier, but I'd still see where I get a better deal. NY, NY is kind of a pain because it's at the far end of the strip.
Of course, check out the usual websites- travelocity, expedia, orbitz, americanexpress, cheaptix. Don't know where you are, but American and America West often have good packages.
I've also had much success with the Flamingo Hilton. Right in the middle of the strip, manageable size (which helps with kids), low key, very nice property with courtyard pool complete with real Flamingos! Since it's not one of the newer hotels, you might get a good deal here too.

New York New York has the cheapest rates. They have an internal city where your kids can romp away from the casino. There are rides and Coney Island. You are on the strip close to all the cool stuff just a walk away.
Venetian is nice to look at, but all it is is shoppes. That also goes for Paris. These places you can easily walk to for a day of fun...
Treasure Island does have a cool show that goes on nightly in front of the casino, but again you can walk to it.
I added the hotel reservation sites for the places you were asking. Come on down! We Las Vegasan's will be happy to see you.
By the way, off topic - take the kids to Bonnie Springs/Old Nevada http://www.bonniesprings.com/ you'll find it to be a great adventure AND it's the western side of Las Vegas history. Also the motel is a heck of a lot cheaper - unless you leave the kids behind and reserve one of the themed jacuzzi suites (*wink wink*)... http://www.bonniesprings.com/motel.html

of those on your record, i'd pick Planet Hollywood or Treasure Island, usually for their places. Stratosphere is an ok place, yet has a terrible region - no longer close to something, and in a community that gets seedy at night. Tropicana is okay - the region is first rate and it replaced into at the instant reworked. substantial highway and Hilton are not on the strip. Planet Hollywood is a great occasion inn, and has a incredibly good south-substantial region on the strip. you would be a standard walk to many different motels, with various different eating and entertainment recommendations. Treasure Island has a exciting pirate subject matter and additionally has a tendency to charm to various young ones. It has a good north-substantial region on the strip, very close to many of the bigger golf equipment on the strip.

I would absolutely say Treasure Island (TI). If you just want to experience Vegas you want to feel comfortable doing it. Venetian and Paris have many different classes of people but tend to cater more toward the "high rollers". I really believe you will feel very comfortable and in your element at TI. We have stayed many places in Vegas and I have to honestly say that we found the most "genuine" people there. Have a great time!
