BEST hands down
not just because they're hot, thats shallow and stupid
but because they actually mean something
Gerard has said in multiple interviews that if their music stops meaning something to people then they will break up and move on to other things.
The band is there to change lives and most importantly save lives.
They have purpose, they don't just want money and fame and women, they want to help people.
There are other bands out their like that too, I know, but MCR seems to have reached more people. They're probably the most wide spread of those bands reaching out to help people.
Yeah, they're mainstream, and they're big and they're on MTV and have concerts in all the biggest venues and that's a good thing because they're reaching more people with their message.

This can be a very objective question as others have said. If you're a fan, of course you'll feel strongly for them. If you aren't into the music, obviously you'll not like them.
For me personally, they've been more than I thought a band could be. When I first heard them, I couldn't have imagined the impact they'd have on my life now. They've saved me, inspired me, been a sort of friend to me when I didn't feel like I had anyone else... I admire the members for who they are and what they do. I know a lot of people stopped listening to them after their new album came out. That's okay if they did. But if you really trust, respect and admire an artist, you should be open to them changing/growing. I, for one, absolutely love the new sound and feeling as much as anything else they've done. It's a great direction and I think it's just brilliant. And let me add that I've also never been to a better show. There's so much energy from beginning to end and so much connection with the audience. It's just a great experience.
So there you go. From a humble fans opinion, they're definitely one of the best bands I've ever heard in my life.

Am ever so slightly obsessed with them at the moment. In fact, am listening to them as I write this. No, but seriously:
There's no scientific way to determine an answer to this one. You either like them or you don't. Fans will say that their lives were saved, that Gerard Way is yummy, but never touch upon the music itself; detractors will most likely object to the dramatics, the need to play "dress up" (as if Madonna ever turned up at Wembley with Marigolds on and unwashed hair....), and ponder the reason why teenagers can't exist without living firmly up their own a*r*s*e.
But really, I like them. I love the music, because it's diverse and dramatic and emotional (duh!). I think The Black Parade sounds like Kurt Weill having it off with the lead singer for Rammstein while the soundtrack to Cabaret is playing in the background.
As far as the "politics" of the band go, I haven't heard anything in interviews that made me think, What a bunch of %!*@-ers.... They all seem fairly intelligent, eloquent and sweet. Also, I love the fact that thanks to them and bands like Fall Out Boy a whole generation will grow up with the notion that there's nothing wrong with being homosexual, or a woman, or black. You can aspire to the artistic high-ground and argue that 'there are better bands out there' and that 'these effeminate little whingers suck', but image and musical tastes are nothing compared to spreading the word of tolerance towards all of humanity. Like them or loathe them; you can't find fault with that.
And if there is only one person in the world who heard MCR on the radio, listened to the lyrics properly and decided that because of this uplifting, wonderful Band Who Understand today would not be the day they'd commit suicide, harm themselves in any way or run away from home, then that's it: because of it, the band are officially the greatest band on earth.

Something in between. There are bands that are definitely worse, like Panic! At The Disco or Good Charlotte, but there are bands that are way better than them.

Umm, I wouldn't go with "best" coz there're a lot of great bands today and some bands are as great as My Chem but I'm gonna say that MCR is an awesome band coz the members are SSSOOO HHOOOTTT, their songs are hardcore!!! That's why last year I became an MCR addict...,.

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE is the best band that has ever touched the surface of this earth!! they rock my world..they put the "M" in music!! They are the greatest band EVER!! and not to mention they're all HOT!!!

MCR are the absolute best!!! I have followed MCR since 2002 and they are a major influence on my life. The lyrics in their songs have really inspired me and as cheesy as it sounds...they're my heroes. They ARE my 5 favorite grown-men-pushing-30. I went to their American debut concert on the Black Parade tour February 22 and it was amazing!!! I had floor seats and had experienced my first mosh pit hahaaa!!!!

U know... ur question is somewhat... ridiculous...
Their fans would absoulutely say they're the best, and people who hate them would surely say tehy'w the worst. And neutral people would say they're in between.
But for me, they're the best because I'm their fan. See?
