When we both get back from work, I watch dvd's and drink beer. She does the cooking,cleaning, washing and ironing but makes such a lot of noise that I have to turn the tv on loud which is distressing to my ears. Should I soundproof her allocated working area and install an intercom for me to contact her when I need something? Any advice appreciated, how did you overcome this selfishness on her part?

My husband uses headphones for the TV, that way he can listen without me distracting him when I am doing the household chores and I am not distracted by sounds of fun and laughter coming from the TV, it works out much cheaper than soundproofing as well. And sometimes if I have finished all the chores before 11pm I am allowed to sit at his feet and watch a little TV myself.

Getting a shed for her to do the ironing in would be cheaper than soundproofing the room. You could also put her in there when the footy is on, so you don't get distracted from the important stuff.
Also, get the lazy cow to get up earlier to do the cleaning before work, that way she won't get in the way of the telly or want to use the hoover when you're trying to listen to Alan Hansen's expert opinions.

yeah def think you should,i mean what is the woman thinking??talk about selfish if you don't really wanna have all the hassle of sound proofing(i mean take it easy,wouldn't wanna give yourself a hernia)think you might have to consider trading her in for a quieter model? i jus done that with my car!!

She is noisy in the hopes that you will get of your @ss and help her clean. That way, it's done sooner and she can relax with you.
