The youth in my country, South Africa have maternity rights..(four months i think)..Recently a girl was banned from her school for being married (she is pregnant). The other kids mocked her and disagreed that married kids be allowed at school.I AGREE with them..My Reasons:
School is for children, if they want to have sex and be adults they can finish school through correspondence or evening classes,
The message my child will get is its ok to have sex and get married so young..
I understand that everyone has the right to education, but if you think you are mature enough to have sex then you are not a child anymore..what do you think about this...?

Let me just add on...I have nothing against the fact that everyone has the right to education and i totally agree with that, nor am i trying to bend God's laws abt living in sin..My point is: If they are mature enough to spread their legs, but not used contraceptives then they are dumb..we do have evening classes here or correspondence that they can use to complete their studies..Sex in our country is not taboo and there are condoms available everywhere and our government wants to change the legal age for contraception to 12..(if they havent already)..And a school is for children, you dont see 50 year olds on the school benches like in the evening classes. This is totally immoral and i dont agree with it.I have nothing against a married person wanting to further their education, i have a problem with children too big for their shoes...

first of all, S.A. is a toilet, but you're right, in the U.S. girls shave themselves to look like little girls but in reality are used up whores--''ooh i'm too young to get maaaarrieeed!' but not too young to spead their legs for guys and have abortions

I though that a modern society would....
1. Help this child to finish her education.
An education isnot just about reading books and writing the correct answer on a peice of paper, its about social developement, intergration into society, making friends and having fun - all of which you choose to denie her.
2. Help other children become aware of social problems.
You don't like other children hearing about a married or pregnant kids, so you hid her away. Do you do the same when it come to your countries rife drug use, gun crime, prosititution, muggings and rape?
Would you not like you children to be aware of what can hapen and what they need to do to avoid this happening? You do give your children a sex education - seeing the results first hand might help to bring the message home.
I'm sure that the meassage of drugs helps kids to make informative choices.
I also hope that this is not you natural SA racist side comming out. The eurge to hate and feel discusted (judging by the tone of you question) owards some one should n't directed at a child.
You said if she is old enought to have sex and get pregnent she is old enough to go to night school. They are stupid for thinking it wouldn't happen to them - but thats the problem they are kids. they are in school to learn how to think.
As for being married....who are you to say when some oen can and can't get married?

I totally agree with you. Here there is an alternative school they can attend that gives them the same education and graduating experience as the others. You can't hide the fact this is going on, even if you don't allow them into the normal school.
This has been going on, though, for decades. You just hope and pray you have taught your children well.

Everyone has a right to education - and sadly sex education often is not done within the home environment. This girl has or may not have had the environment needed to prevent such happenings. However, I strongly feel that she has a right to continue in her education and return after the birth. SA need to give this right to all their children and understanding her situation is needed within her very class and you could start by instilling this into your child.

you havent mentioned the age of the kid, but if we leave the age out for now, and look at the fact that she is married, the purpose of marriage is to have sex sanctified in the eyes of god making it a permitted partnership in his sight. part of gods law in this is that "let no man put assunder" nobody should come between man and wife.If she was not married like many that are much older than her she would be living in sinn, an old fashion oppinion
in some folks eyes, but still in force in gods eyes. it could actualy save her from a single life of going from man to man and ending up bitter or even worse. in any case tis too late to condem.
so leave the kid alone.

I disagree. School is not just for children, it is for people who wish to get an education. Teenagers have sex. It is a fact of life from the dawn of time. Hormones are crazy at that time and they make bad decisions because they're human. Banning people because they happen to be married outside of school or pregnant is promoting an uneducated population. It's also promoting the focus on someone's personal life rather than the reason they're in school in the first place. School systems have enough of that without their parents and school boards singling them out for not being like everyone else.
Why be punished for falling in love or accidentally getting pregnant, just because they weren't one of the lucky ones to not get knocked up? It's also punishing the babies because their parents aren't allowed to get properly educated and a parent's intellect can effect the next generation.

Well I disagree hun I think that she is pregnant and married at such an early age because she isn't thinking like an adult. The message your child will get is the one you install at home and the lesson your child learns at school is don't do as she did or you ll be treated like she is by the other kids at school.Deterrent enough I'm sure poor thing

Well South Africas Sexual education is one of the worst in the world, so why should this girl be punished for her lack of knowladge.
In the UK we have adult classes for married people, they have the right of education as well.
If this girl is acting like an adult it has not baring on the fact she is allowed to be educated unless the law disagrees.

i assume that is achieveable. although they do say that you've a intense fee of divorce too. I did marry a guy that I met a million year when I graduated and we coincidently were the very similar age and graduated a similar year, merely diverse states/colleges. So it very virtually felt like we would were intense college sweet hearts even although we weren't, yet that we were so youthful. we've been married two decades.

wow - that's an eye opener. Your right, I understand you want to protect your child and try and guide them the bext they can. But children are easily influenced.
I would'nt like it
Why are these kids getting married so young? Is it pressure from families or just some silly law which allows it?
