So do you think that the site is a good place to stay connected and reconnect with friends and family or do you think its just a site for internet predators and people looking for a date, etc.? Also, do you think that Myspace's security features are up to par? I mean I've been hacked twice, ie: bullentins posting that weren't mine and my profile being wiped out, etc. It happened even though I change my password like every week. Just wanting to hear peoples thoughts.

Myspace is a wonderful tool for keeping in touch with old friends, family, and classmates whom you thought you would never see again. Yes, Myspace seems to have its issues with security and profiles are hacked daily. On the upside, there are so many features and little goodies that it's really difficult to completely do away with it, especially when millions of people use it as their primary way of communication around the world.

Myspace is somewhat of a cultural icon in the USA and is growing ever more in popularity as mainstream shows and progamming seem to advertise the name whether it be a joke or casual conversation. Obviously it is a huge hit with the youth for the mere ease of keeping in touch as well as the customization options available. As for the predator thing, I thought he was just a fictional movie character??? Kidding. There are ways to dodge this by making your profile private and such, but whether girls do that willingly or not is their choice. The fact of the matter is that Myspace is still THE top choice for a person to stay connected.

If you want to try an alternative method, you may give Facebook a look. It's a very friendly layout and harder to hack (I think). Plus, there are numerous amounts of privacy options that you can tinker with to your liking. For instance, nobody can view your profile unless they are your friend. Period. No random trolling allowed. Furthermore, you can limit the amount of personal info that is seen by those who are in your friends list. So while that old flame from high school is cool, you still don't trust him or her with certain info. No problem, just limit their access. It's a really fun system.

I use both and get great individual results from each. They are alike, but very dissimilar from one another, which keeps things fresh, in my opinion. So, there you have it. That's my two cents on the issue.

Actually, I just deleted my Myspace.

I'll tell you why.

I got more junk mail, junk bulletins, and fake friend requests, than I ever got real important messages from people I hadn't heard from in a while.

It is nice to go on and check out my friends' profiles, but if I needed to, I could sign up for a quick fake account real quick to send them a message to hook up with me on msn or some other site, or perhaps even communicate with them via phone or e-mail.

It's another thing to check too, so now when you go online, if you have email, you'll have to check both your email and your myspace, and for me this was kind of annoying.

also, In having it for a year, my profile was hacked twice because of flaws in the myspace code, allowing others to change my profile without even needing my password etc.

So I guess, I wouldn't really recommend it, there are a lot better ways to keep in touch with people using the internet that don't present the problems/annoyances that using myspace does.

Cheers!

Jason

I have never used the site my self but my daughter has. She really liked it but it can be good and bad,. I no she has told me some real ugly things have come up out of the site where one person says something about someone one esle and the more problems accure. I would not suggest this site for a bit older person. Mostly very young persons using this site. But it is very popular. I might say If someone has been hacking you already I would stay away.

well being in the military and based overseas i love Myspace because it helps me keep in touch with all my friends back home. but i do hate it because it allows young girls to sign up and they put up information about themselves that really makes them look and sound like whores and then they go and cry to their mommys and daddys that a creepy guy is stalking her. now i think thats pretty ridiculous. todays youth are growing up way too fast. i think myspace should be available to older teens and young adults. it also should be parents responsibilities to monitor what their kids do online. and myspace could highten the security, i know a lot of people that have gotten hacked on myspace.
