Why can't my mp4 view my videos?

I've tried saving videos and clips to my mp4 but i can't view it. my mp4's menu for videos is AVM(and i don't know what's that). i'd tried saving MPEGs and AVIs but i still can't view it through my Mp4's screen. It says that the file is empty

It could be that the files your trying to switch over have a different Codec. If your able to download programms to it, try getting the DIVX codec/ Player installed. With this you'll be able to view nearly anytime of media file.

It probably accepts WMA only.
