Hi I get thrush on average about twice every 6 months or so, I normally use the canestan pessary and cream which works quite well (but is messy) so I thought I would try the oral capsule (its expensive but It seemed like an easier option).
I took it 2 days ago (it says on the pack should clear symptoms within 2 to 3 days) but I feel no better at all and its killing me!
Should I wait 1 more day and see if it clears up or just go and get the pessery?
Has anyone else used the oral pill and it has worked ok?
Thanks in advance.

Of course guys are going to come and look they're curious, but would'nt like it if they caught it.WOULD YOU GUYS.
right back to the question, I used to get it quite a lot but I haven't had it for some time now, I was told nylon knickers and tight jeans cause it because your bits need to breath and these clothes are restricting air circulating your privates, so I wear cotton knickers and I haven't had it for ages. Stick to what you know, it might be messy, but these things are'nt cheap, and you'll just have to pay out more in the long run. Don't live in discomfort, go and get the pessary and cream.

I did exactly the same as you. I always used pessary/cream and then tried oral capsule and it did absolutely nothing! I went back to the pessary and it cleared it up fine.
Also, try using the canestan feminine wash stuff from the supermarket. As soon as you feel even a hint of a symptom, or maybe just once or twice a week. Its like clarifying shampoo, clears away all the product build up and leaves a clean slate.
Now for the boring bit, you should see your doctor if you get it more than once every six months. just to be sure its not an underlying problem.

I would wait to get the pessery til after tomorrow..
The yogurt is a good idea though..
That other gal is also right that it could be something else
I use the pill myself and it clears it up after 3 days not 2 days, but in the meantime I do get the cream to rub on to help with annoying symptoms.
If it doesn't clear up in a few days and you've taken the pessery and creams I'd go back to the doctors.

I tried the oral treatment before and it did nothing. I would use the pessary hun, it works at least.
Canestan now do a gentle feminine wash too that might help you and there are wipes you can carry with you to keep fresh all day.
Good luck x

Hi there... I have used the pill and it only worked after 3 days... I suppose everyone is different and just as our body's respond differently to things, yours would too... I say give it another day or two... also watch your diet as this could be one of the causes of the thrush... sometimes its just yeast related though. Try using plain yogurt for the itch, its a bit messy but it helped me... Good Luck

I had problems with yeast infections continuously for two years. I had prescriptions from the doctors that would take care of it for a while but then it would return. All they would say is eat more yogurt and drink plenty of water. BUT..I found that the same live culture in yogurt is in pill form too. It is called Acidophilus you can buy it over the counter at wal mart. It kills the yeast in your body so that it does not get out of control. It has worked for me now for three months. It is safe to take everyday two pills and keep it refridgerated after opening.

I totally understand. The pill does work but you also need to use the cream - or so Ive found. Drink plenty of water too. Always wear cotton undies and perhaps get checked out at a food allegies clinic. I stopped eating white wheat based products and havent had an attack in 10 months.
Good luck

As your symptoms don't seem to be clearing i would recommend you see your doctor, to rule out any infection that could be making your symptoms worse or check the levels of yeast in your stomach . Try not to use perfumed items or nylon underwear i would suggest you try cotton underwear. I tried the oral pill also but did'nt find that it helped me which was a waste of £12.00 or £6.20 if you get it on prescription. But do go and see your doctor for the symptoms can only increase. good luck. nearly forgot it would be a good idea to cut out white bread in your diet as this contributes to the yeast thats causing the problem.

Twice a year is quite often to get thrush - I have a friend who had a similar problem, and she swears that once she started with those daily little probiotic drinks, it really helped and she got it a lot less frequently. I realise this isn't answering your question exactly, but I thought I'd pass this on.

Dont use perfumed soap etc in that area. Also if you are married has your husband been treated for it because if you clear it up and he doesnt then he will just pass it back to you. Think you have to wait two weeks after infection has disapeared before you are completely free of it.
Change your diet because sometimes its intolerance to foods that cause this
Good luck its a pain (literally)
